May 1 & 2 - In the Gallery

Coming Soon! In the Gallery (formerly the Offsite Series), a GCDF preview event, Saturday May 1st, 2 p.m. & Sunday May 2nd, 4 p.m. at Ed Video, 40 Baker Street.

The GCDF will be featuring its first ever show of a solo dance artist. Dancer extraordinaire, Danielle Baskerville will be performing a solo show displaying her intense focus, riveting dancing and insight into movement and expression. Danielle is no stranger to the GCDF having performed in the festival seven times previously (Danielle has been a featured dancer with Dancetheatre David Earle since 1996, and danced with Denise Duric, Kate Alton and D.A. Hoskins on the GCDF’s River Run stage). Consequently, she is an integral part of the Guelph dance community’s fabric.

Born in Victoria B.C., Danielle moved to Toronto to train at the School of Toronto Dance Theatre and has gone on to experience an outstanding dance career. Due to her incredible skill level, dramatic yet sublime performance quality and sophisticated artistry, Danielle is quite easily one of the most sought after and acclaimed dance artists in Canada today. For her performances In the Gallery Danielle will present three solo works by talented and unique female Canadian choreographers Susie Burpee, Allison Cummings and Sasha Ivanochko. Talkback Sessions will follow each show, giving the audience an opportunity to further explore Baskerville’s artistry through candid dialogue with her.

Don’t miss this highly intimate experience with contemporary dance at our new location, Ed Video Media Arts Centre.

In the Gallery is a pay-what-you-can event.

Be a Host: Billet an Artist

Do you have a room or two for out-of-town GCDF artists? If so, and you are interested in billeting for a few nights please let the GCDF know. In the past, members of our community have opened their homes to guest artists, welcoming them and making them comfortable. In return, good friendships have been formed and visitors have been afforded the opportunity to meet the unique members of our community that make our city such a wonderful place to live. The GCDF is looking for billeting between June 3-6. Tickets to GCDF events will be offered to all billeters.

If interested, please contact the GCDF office at 519-780-2220.
