Imagine More…Highlights from our 2011 Festival Line-Up

This year’s Festival highlights the truly inspiring nature of contemporary dance; the power and possibility that this art form creates for artists and audiences alike to “imagine more.”

The GCDF are so pleased to share this, a highlight of our Festival line-up for 2011, with our newsletter readers; an exciting roster featuring creatively rich, cutting-edge dance talents from both near and far:

On The Stage includes innovative works by legendary Canadian choreographers David Earle (Guelph) and Roger Sinha (Montreal) and juxtaposed them with next generation creators such as Billy Bell (of So You Think You Can Dance fame, Season 7).

At In The Park, Guelph’s own Robert Kingsbury will challenge our notion of sound and the body with the premiere of SpeakerPhone while Tel Aviv’s Dana Katz will put contemporary dance to the test through BoomBox, interestingly staged inside a boxing ring.

With our In The Street performances, Toronto’s Gadfly Dance Company brings urban street dance literally to the streets with their critically acclaimed piece, Unbearable Prospect. From there, Mary Catherine Jack (Ottawa) takes us from the ground up in The Flying Lesson.

And for the first time, the GCDF brings you In the Studio, with truly stunning works best presented in an intimate setting, featuring Toronto-based Moonhorse Dance Theatre in Half an Hour of Our Time and Michelle Silagy & Jennifer Dick in the premiere of HOME.

Support the GCDF’s Annual Campaign!

Each year, the GCDF aims to enthrall, inspire, impassion and educate its audiences and program participants through the wonder of contemporary dance. We are committed to providing you, our generous supporters, with a one-of-a-kind immersion into the arts that is high-quality and innovative, but also financial accessible.

We recently developed a 3-year strategic plan, outlining the details of the promising future that we envision for the Festival. Through your support, we can “imagine more” together: more pay-what-you-can programming on the streets and parks of Guelph, more low-cost workshops in public schools and more cutting-edge contemporary dance performances in Guelph.

Please consider supporting our Annual Campaign by making a gift today. Your donation will help us realize our shared goals, turning imagination to reality.
