GCDF Launches a Blog!
For a while now, we here at the Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival have explored the many ways we can participate in the dynamic, interactive online community. We have our Facebook page and our Twitter feed in place—and we invite all of you to visit and contribute—but we also wanted the larger discussion platform of a blog.

Our new GCDF blog has the unique ability to bring the various communities of dance artists, audience and supporters together, those both locally-based and from across the country, and give each one of you a forum to voice your hopes, challenges, and successes within your own unique dance experience. The blog will be a meeting place where we can take an intimate glimpse into the workings behind the scenes, and where we can reveal the heart and soul of the dance process.
We will update you on the latest GCDF news from the inside, but we’ll also explore what’s happening on a wider scale. It won’t be just one voice; it will be all of us speaking to our passion for dance.
Of course, we will feature our GCDF regulars, but we also invite you to contribute by sending your GCDF story to promotion.gcdf@gmail.com, or to engage with the posted stories by commenting in the comments section.
You can keep up with our latest entry by subscribing, or by finding the links on either our website, our Facebook page, or our Twitter feed. We also invite you to share the link with anyone who you think might appreciate this up-close-and-personal look into our dance festival and the amazing people who make it work.
CSA Nooner, November 23
Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival and the University of Guelph’s Central Students’ Association (CSA) will present three unique dance pieces next week, featuring local dancers and musicians as part of the CSA Nooner Series. This one-hour performance will take place on November 23rd, 2011 at 12:00 noon at the University Centre Courtyard and is free-of-charge.
The CSA Nooner features pieces from Robert Kingsbury, Portal Dance Projects, and Fall on Your Feet Dance Collective. Robert Kingsbury will present In Crossing, an encounter with uncharacteristic embodiment in public space. Portal Dance Projects brings excerpts from their full-length work, This Side of Light, which is inspired by the role light plays in our lives. And Fall on Your Feet Dance Collective presents Water Way, an original and time-honoured exploration of our human connection to water.
The CSA Nooner Series is a great chance for the GCDF to bring contemporary dance right to its audience in an intimate and unexpected way, transforming the educational environment into a vibrant arena for exciting, innovative dance. Photo by Anuta Skrypnychenko.
